My next BIG project

THE DREAM SCENARIO OTTOMAN

(since my tufted futon/ottoman has become outdoor furniture and will someday be around no longer, I have to start thinking about a replacement)

this will be a more likely option for A LOT LESS $$$

I found a splendid DIY tufted ottoman option HERE today!

a super resourceful gal took this craigslist coffee table:

and made this:

I scored some tufting buttons from my dad recently, so only a cheapy coffee table, foam, quilt batting, and fabric left to procure!

something new...

I have not 'pinned' anything yet, but will start soon...

276 days...loving this leisurely planning!!!

I am proud to say that even though I have all this time to plan, I am keeping a decent scope of needs/wants and not letting any little shiny thing be all of the sudden so neccessary :)


I have created several pages (the tabs above) and am 'filing' things there to get sorta organized:

poring over wedding blog posts at 100 Layer Cake last week helped me come up with this ultra-witty 'theme' if you will...

crazy for cannage!

okay...so I like a lot of different things, 

but I REALLY LIKE the caning pattern which Christian Dior calls 'cannage'

and first saw what I believe to be tasteful overload in the pages of the dearly departed magazine DOMINO...the mosaic tile and the stark contrast of chocolate brown and white.

soooooooo, I went looking today for all-things-cane-patterned and found:

THESE fantastic hand-woven pillows from Jonathan Adler...

 you can choose from several colors (of course I chose the above) and really get exactly what you want (in lots of other designs, too)!

then I found this poor-man's-version and instantly ordered two, even though picking them up means patronizing Walmart

laser cut steel tables from Lee Walsh

slightly twee notecards in grass green and lavender

these fantastic tumblers that could immediately incite a little party on the patio...

and B&B Italia's uber-expensive Canasta outdoor furniture (like $9138 expensive!!!)

I found so many different applications of this great pattern, which brings me to the point-

how can I add this simple, chic, springtime element to everything I have bookmarked already?

THE FACT THAT I HAVE COME TO TERMS WITH THE FOLLWING MAY SHOCK YOU:

I will have to shrink the very wide scope of style floating all around right now and make some decisions 

(I have recently realized this about my home, too...I cannot expect Mr. Wo to live in Pee-wee's Playhouse of every-kind-of-what-not-under-the-sun and "wall to wall furniture" (as he so dearly defines it) for much longer!)

soooooo...to not go overboard (dagnabit!) the cake will be IT.

aqua with white pattern and kelly green accents of some sort?

plus I found these matching bev naps...

...that is if they are the right color :)

oh, and I were to want to stamp anything with the pattern, I can just follow Martha's lead

and if I ever want to get legit about it there are plenty of instructionals out there, too!

PLUS, look for updates on the "GO Mr. Wo GO!" page, as he has (of course) been kickin' ass and takin' names on his re-siding project!!!
